Understanding and Preventing Childhood Obesity: Childhood obesity is a serious problem in the United States putting children and adolescents at risk for poor health. Through this workshop, participants will learn about obesity, its long-term consequences and strategies to reduce childhood obesity. This is a competent level training. Prerequisites: Participants must be familiar with the Child And Adult Food Care Program ‘s (CACFP) nutrition guidelines. Core Of Knowledge (COK) Hours: 3 (Health, Safety & Nutrition)
Learning Outcomes: By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Define childhood obesity
2. Identify the causes and health consequences of childhood obesity
3. Identify strategies for the early childhood setting aimed at preventing childhood obesity
